Prof Hulda Swai is an accomplished scientist and mentor with expertise in the field of nanoscience. Throughout her career, she has been dedicated to researching and developing innovative solutions to some of the most pressing issues facing society today.

As a mentor, Prof Hulda has trained and supervised numerous postdoc fellows, PhD and MSc students, who have gone on to make significant contributions to their respective fields. She is well known for her ability to inspire and motivate her team to reach their full potential.

In her most recent project, Prof Hulda, together with her postdoc fellow, Dr Jofrey Raymond, and other team members, has been focused on addressing food and nutrition security in the African region. They have applied nanotechnology to develop different nutrition formulations that target health and nutrition in the region.

Their work has resulted in the establishment of the DDI, a data-driven innovation incubation center that transforms research outputs into commercially viable businesses. The team's efforts were recognized when they won a competitive World Bank funding through IUCEA applied through CREATES, a center of excellence focusing on food and nutrition security, hosted at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology.

Through the DDI, Prof Hulda and her team have developed several plant-based nutrition formulations that are intended to address food and nutrition security in the African region. Some of these products include omega3-superfood, Spirulina powder, vitamin D supplements, vegan yoghurt powder, Nutrano: nutritional formula for children and mother, SimBar: a healthy snack made from sesame seeds, and anti-aging formulation.

Prof Hulda is a role model for many young researchers and scientists, demonstrating that with dedication, hard work, and innovation, significant impact can be made in the field. Her work has not only contributed to food and nutrition security in the African region but has also inspired many others to pursue their own research in this area.

Overall, Prof Hulda is a brilliant scientist, mentor, and innovator, who has made a significant contribution to the field of nano science and to society as a whole. Her accomplishments have been recognized by the scientific community and she continues to be a driving force for change and progress in her field.
